Incredibly deep may be too deep for an average reader to understand..

First off, the original title of this book is "The Art of Being Yourself". That's the title of the original Russian publication. I have no idea why they changed the title in the American publication. Anyway..

The first time I read this book was back in 80-s when I still lived in the former USSR, long before my family and I immigrated to the US. It was an eye-opener back then and it is still an eye-opener now when I am re-reading it 30-something years later. Now, when I am a much older and mature person I can see and appreciate the depth of the author's visions of human mind and behavior, which I wasn't able to do in my youth. One thing I can tell is that I haven't yet encountered any mental health professional, who would have such a profound, holistic and unique understanding of human nature than Vladimir Levi.

Yes, the book is designed as a self-help guide as it has specific exercises intended to increase your self-awareness and self-control.They helped me a great deal back when I was young and read the book for the first time and I hope they will be helpful this time again. However, if you are someone who just looks yet for another populist version of self-help that instructs you on how to be happy, "successful" and all that non-sense, this book is not for you. All the techniques and exercises in the book only work in the context of your general awareness of yourself and life around you. In order to benefit from the book you need to be able to think deeply, you have to be someone who likes to reflect, contemplate, question everything and willing to de-program yourself from the cultural, familial and other types of mind-programming. This is not something that people, and especially people in the US, like to do. So, if you are not interested in reflecting and questioning your current belief system, the book may not be for you.

Edge westerns are great for action reading

As a long-standing reader of George G Gilman novels, initially Edge, I was overjoyed to discover them electronically available.
Hardcopies available in S. A. are mostly second-hand and in poor condition.
Hope all Gilman series are or will be available.

Poor Polly

I'm not going into detail about the characters. If your reading this book, you probably read part one.......if not, READ IT :)

In my review for part one, I told you Ms. Sadistic would be wanting her pleasure in books two and three, well, I was right !!!! I blubbered like a baby.

Poor Pollyanna. You can feel her heartbreak when she catches Kyr in the arms of another women. And like the typical male, Kyr thinks he can have his cake and eat it too. He realizes he doesn't want his ex, but not until he almost loses his family. I can't wait to read part three.......make him grovel, Ms. Tee ;)

A Few Heart Strings Shorter

Ugh, totally cried. T_T And Kyr wins the Biggest Jerk Award. Expanding on the eight years of marriage between Kyrillos and Pollyanna, the couple learn what it's like to be married. Children, the struggles with staying at home vs working, dealing with hubby's constant need to chain you to his side, and figuring out if you really made a mistake in saying 'I do'. I enjoyed the drama, not so much the heartbreak. Too many feels with this one, mostly because of one's indecision and the other's need to make their partner happy. Perhaps a little too much emotion for such a fast pace story, though the pace was very nice with the highlighted moments.

As with all her work, Tee's style of writing pulled me in and made it harder to take the emotional blows that came. I loved the set up and I ADORE the precious children that they had, especially the twins. Despite being so young, I loved what their contributed to the story. It's definitely different from her other books because of the children and the thought of a perfect marriage working on their already waning trust, but what came out of it was something I probably didn't want to know until it happened. It ends on a cliff hanger with the final part coming out five days later so it's not that much of a horror to wait. I loved Pollyanna and seeing the slight changes in her maturity but I look forward to seeing her finding her own voice.

Wow! Love This One!

A lot of time goes by in this book, 8 years, in fact. It starts with the marriage of Kyrillos and Pollyanna, then continues to hit some important points of their marriage. I won't give anything away (no spoilers!), but there's definitely some emotional tumult. As with any Marian Tee story, there were tears. I love that her books are so well written that when a character is hurt, I cry. I love the emotional catharsis that comes with reading her books. And this one is another great love story by the talented Marian Tee!

Excited as heck for the next two books

I won't bore anyone with a book review, but I will give some brief thoughts:

1) After years of reading about the heroic Empire of Man, I'm actually really digging the fallen legion perspective on things. So many other books portray Chaos Marines as pretty dark and... evil. I think this does a good job of showing how Chaos interacts with mankind when men aren't so fooled into thinking in a very black and white good vs evil mindset. Not sure Fabius Bile is the most interesting character here, and that was a nice twist. Bile's retinue are far better developed and interesting, overall, even if they aren't as uniquely interesting and powerful as Bile. But, hey, the Eye of Terror isn't all that scary when you are one of the Alpha predators, like Bile. I think it gets a little more interesting when you aren't at the top of the food chain and you are trying to swim with the big fish. Most of the other characters are some variation on that theme.

2) I thought the writing was good. I'm not looking for absurdly difficult to read, and I want good pacing with action that is easy to imagine and follow along with. Reynolds nailed that for me.

3) At the end I was excited as heck for the next two books. I believe I saw, somewhere, that this is part of a trilogy. Any book that makes me wish it wasn't over deserves a solid 4 star rating. It won't change my life, but I'll be back for more.

JR Brings The Manflayer To Life

Fabius Bile chooses his own fate, despite Chaos Space Marines, Xenos and Daemons working to manipulate him into "falling in line" for their own agendas.
The author does an amazing job at bringing all of the characters to life.
Lots of gore, action and our favorite twisted apothecary shows everyone from the dark gods to the lowest Xenos that he will bow to no one and fears nothing.

I recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in Fabius Bile, Primogenitor.

A masterpiece of military Sci-Fi.

I'm new to these "Warhammer" setting books, and picked this up based on the heady praise from a couple of friends who know about these stories. And I am so very glad I did.
What a fantastic book. This has got it all, great prose, smart dialogue, compelling and excellently built characters and scene setting, an incredibly dark vibe coupled with humor and splattered in gallons of blood, and amazingly visceral fight scenes.
I am sold on this setting if any of the books are even close to this level of brilliance.
First book from the Black Library and first read by Joshua Reynolds, and it could not have been better.
Definitely a must-read for fans of the genre and for fans of great action and spectacular writing.

Comes The End series by William Creed

Below my review is the description of the 3rd book of this series as posted on Amazon. The spelling errors here number three. Can you find them? The errors in the past three books were spelling, grammar, structure, and a complete lack of editing in general.
Glaringly obvious is the fact that these books were self-published and self-edited. Also, this is now a four book series. I suppose an afterthought by the author.
While I did find some interest in the plot, I had hoped that books 2 and 3 would be an improvement on book 1.
I have interest in end times stories in general but these are poorly written.

So far off the Bible

The book did keep my attention, and it was a good science fiction book. But it is way off the truth of the Bible. The Bible says that once someone has The Mark, they cannot be saved, unlike some of the characters in this book whose mark disappeared. Also, I found the end where the prophet character states that all people go to Heaven, ridiculous! Jesus wouldn't needed to have died for our sins if all people go to Heaven. And the 1000 year period where some Christians are left instead of raptured to save unbelievers, is silly since the Bible states Jesus will be with us! The Bible is God's word, and God does not lie, so changing the Bible for the story of this book, just ruined it for me. I know some interpret Revelations a bit different, but there are some that take it way off, like this author.

I don't know whether or not there was an editor on this one. While the story is powerful, its message is diminished by the number of typos, grammatical errors, and misspellings (at least one per page). That's kind of sad.
