It came from Amazon on time and in good condition. The book is ordered nicely and is easy to read, but there is more grammatical errors than I would like in a text book. At best it is a minor annoyance but at points the improper grammar makes it difficult to understand the point the author is trying to make. Index is well put together and helpful towards pinpointing specific topics of interest

Not as good as Rien's other books

I didn't really enjoy this book as some of Rien's other work. Don't get me wrong, it's still wonderful artwork, and a bargain at the price here. If you are like me and have to have ALL his books, by all means, get it. But if you are trying to choose between this one and some of his others, like Dogs or Life in Holland, pass on this book.

Rien's Farm Book

The Farm Book is done wonderfully with great art. It will remind many people that have left the Netherlands and now live overseas, of the many small details of Dutch Farm life. The expressions on the faces of the typical Dutch farmers are rendered as only Rien could do it. Farms, animals, vegetation, it all is portrayed the way we used to see it around us, when living in that small country. Old farm tools can be seen as well. There is a variety of things all related to the old fashioned farm, and of course his text is humorous. This book is great!!!

I tried to convince myself of the usefulness of this book. It may be that my son is just too young for me to take any of these practices and put them into action. He's only one. I was able to take things for myself from the book, but mostly just the repetitions that are written in Chopra's 7 Spiritual Laws for Success.

I love the teachings of this book. It has shared how to nurture each of my children's spirits to help them be the best person they can possibly become. I have be given insight on how to help them be open to new experiences, not limit the opportunities with closed-minded thoughts and enjoy being their own unique spirits.

This book was written by three very prestigious authors, two of which work at The Johns Hopkins University(Dr. Liang and Dr. Zeger), and Dr. Diggle, who is working in England. These three are very well known and respected characters in their field of work, and this book is an excellent reflection upon the research and work they have done over the years. Great photos and main points for each continent

I am a homeschooler, so I am always looking for neat school books that don't really look so much like text books. I like the easy-to-follow organization of this book. It gives an appropriate amount of repetition and predictability for the very young. Each set of four pages (per continent) follows the pattern: Outline drawing of the continent with political boundaries of countries present, Brief text with the relative size of the continent highlighted and another fact or two, and a lovely two-page spread of a stand-out representative photo of a sight within that continent. The vocabulary used in the book is a bit advanced for first graders (populous, currency, dominated, etc) and would preclude most from reading it alone. With that being said, it does encourage vocabulary development if the words are explained (again taking advantage of the repetition).
We have way too many choices of devices, from the Kindle to a Fire tablet, to a traditional laptop, to a desktop. It is perfect on our touchscreen 15.6 inch laptop, with color photos that span the screen and great resolution. It would lose something for me on a smaller screen, though smaller hands and independence indicate that it will ultimately be read there.
Honestly, this book is for my daughter, who is kindergartening at 5. I am strongly considering having my 10 year old work with her on it, because it will provide review and quick facts for him as well. It gives enough tidbits to start the conversation, and will be one of numerous resources used for learning about the world. It fits well with her current attention span, which I hope lengthens a bit in the next 2 years. As an introductory overview, it fits the bill, and the beauty of the photos definitely kept my attention to see what would be next.
Overall: Lovely short book to introduce the continents. Should definitely be useful to those with younger children, as it is short enough to keep interest and allows them to read the pictures and become familiar with the maps.
Last word: Ignore the 1st Grade label... use it when it suits where your child is! (I would suggest read-alongs.) Enjoy and discuss it together... I am so excited to have this book to come back to throughout our studies, hope you will find it useful and beautiful as well.

ISt Grade Geography

The first Grade Geography book has a striking cover with a few significant items included on the cover itself. It's a small book. I noticed the pages were not numbered. However, I quite like the way the contents of the book are organized. This type of clear-cut organization would help a first grader grasp the contents easily. I also love the pictures in the book especially the one of Mount Everest. I got this mainly for my grandson who is in first grade. When I showed him the book, his eyes lit up. He readily recognized some of the pictures on the cover. I am glad I ordered this book. I received mine free in exchange for my honest and sincere review.

Great introduction to the continents, beautiful pictures

First grade Geography: Continents of the World. Warning this review contains spoilers. I really enjoy this book. The progression thru the different continents makes sense. This book is written at a level that most first graders will be able to understand. I think that this book does a great job at introducing all 7 continents. Let’s begin the journey of exploring this book and see what it has to offer. This book starts out with the definition of a continent. Then it lists the 7 continents on earth. This list does not reflect the order that the continents are discussed, although I really wish it had.
Asia is the first continent discussed. I really like that on one side of the page they show all of Asia, then on the other half they give some facts about the continent. They repeat this pattern throughout the book. I find it to be quite helpful. The page following the description is a beautiful high quality picture of something that the continent is recognized for. There is a caption on the picture so you know exactly what it is a picture of, and you learn cool facts.
Europe is the next continent we discuss. The facts talk about currency, and that Europe is home to the world’s smallest country, the Vatican. The picture chosen for this continent is that of the Eiffel tower in Paris France.
Africa, the map of Africa shows country boundaries, and is shaded slightly. We learn that Africa is one of the most diverse places on the planet. The picture chosen here is that of the Great Pyramid of Giza, in Egypt.
Australia, We are told the cool fact that Australia means land to the south. The picture was well chosen being that of the Sydney opera house.
North America, We learn that North America is entirely in the Northern hemisphere. I would have liked to be given a definition of hemisphere, but that didn’t happen. The picture chosen to represent this continent is Niagara Falls.
South America is home to the Andes mountain range. We are given a rare treat in the picture they chose for South America. The picture is of Angel falls, the worlds highest uninterrupted waterfall. The picture is high quality and stunning.
Finally we learn about Antarctica. Most of Antarctica is covered by ice and snow. The picture is that of Mt Erebus the second highest volcano in Antarctica. I received this kindle e-book for free, (at the time of my review it is free to everyone,) in exchange for my honest review.

Empowering and Transformational.

An excellent book with transformational power. This easy to read book gives you the tools to create a life of absolute fulfillment. The techniques in this book are so simple and so effective that you will get results immediately. I got so turned on by reading this book that I immediately made a complete mental clean up. Threw out all the old limiting thought patterns and exchanged them for new and empowering ones. I feel a new sense of gratitude and joy for living. This is the kind of book that I will return to again and again.

WOW! This is awesome!

This book is one of the best self-empowering books I have ever read! It has completely changed my life. It's easy to read, you can just dive into any chapter you like. The message is clear and simple and everything just makes perfect sence in this profound book. The techniques presented are very effective and easy to do for anyone. I just love it! Fast Food for the Soul is my first step into self-help and self-realization books. I reached for this book as I am currently facing some very difficult life challenges. My scepticism regarding this kind of book evaporated at once. Fast Food for The Soul, in a very easy and clear way, explains how the mind works and offers valuable techniques for solving problems. This book provided me with a path to follow to continue my journey of self-exploration. I take Fast Food with me wherever I go. A very good book

Aagard and Lund do a greatv job in teaching the Tarrasch defense.
This book features a good selection of games, as well, as good highlighting of typical strategic and tactical themes.
Anyone from C player to Master will benefit (I am a master).
Most important, you can really feel that the authors have played the defense, and they have personal opinion on the line (this should be the rule, but lately, many MI/GMs tend to write books also on opening they have little ideas of how to handle, and the resut is something close to a database dump with little useful pointers).
A good idea would be to purchase together Schiller's "A complete defense to d4", one of the best Schiller's books (since he doews play the Tarrasch as Black).

A good Repertoire book

A very active, easy to learn system agaisnt 1.d4 backed up with good theory and advice. Also, they go into very good systems against white's other first moves, except for 1. e4. I've noticed that most 1.d4 players don't bother with main line queens gambits but opt for simple systems like the "Old Man's Bad Habit", Hodgsone tromp, colle, etc. This books deals with all of those and a great section on the Reti. A good repertoire book.
