Therapists today have a serious problem:lack of direction. Millions of people who suffer with symptoms of personality disorders are deprived of help. Therapists today provide "talk" ,"paid pseudofriendship" and an illusion that includes waste of time money and hope.

This small volume,if read seriously can make a deep difference in giving therapists understanding and direction in tratment of most patients who are in therapy today. The initial focus on diagnosis and differential diagnosis is a must.Just the understanding of the concept of abandonment depression alone is a gift to any practicing therapist.It is so common yet goes unrecognized at a high cost to those who suffer. The therapeutic approach including knowing when to use miroring vs confrontation is essential. Dr Masterson deserves a gold medal. Other contributors have my admiration for their wisdom and openess in writing this gem.

A Must Have for Therapists!

This book/workbook is therapeutic crack! There is so much information packed into this little workbook it is amazing. Anyone who has ever struggled with the problem of "ok I know what I have here but now what do I do with it?" must must must read this book. Masterson's entire published works are all very good on their own but this gives you a glimpse into all of the works complied into one book. Obviously, not nearly as extensive of a look as you would get from the original texts but very good and very clear to the reader. The workbook gives you great directives on how to conduct your therapy and make it as effective as it can be given the diagnoses you are dealing with at the time. This book is very helpful and a must have for anyone who is in therapy with Axis II individuals.

My one critique is one that I don't think could be avoided given the depth of information provided in so few pages but I feel it deserves to be mentioned. This book is incredibly dense to read. Each paragraph, page, and chapter is rich with information and thus making it a slow read (at least for me) when you are reading for memory and comprehension. This isn't a light read by any means, but if you take your time and take it seriously it is a great tool for any therapist.

A short essay on trench raiding in WW1

When I purchased this I did not realise how short it was.This was my first Kindle purchase.It really is a quite short essay based on secondary sources & unfortunately lacking in depth & details.It would have been good to have first person accounts of trench raids & the German response.There are no illustrations of trench raiding weapons or for that matter anything else.The author concludes that trench raids were ultimately not worthwhile but fails to provide cogent evidence to substantiate his view.Certainly both sides did trench raids right to the end of the war & there was a perceived need to dominate the battlefield.It is an easy read which took me only a couple of minutes but ultimately I found this work unsatisfying.

A pretty good read. Factual, personal, bloody, but, not overly gory. I doubt I would have been able to do these missions and I survived quite a bit of combat in Vietnam. These were some very tough hombres and braver than badgers.

Science with Humor!

My Thoughts

I so admire anyone who can make science fun and these two authors have done exactly that. Never dry, filled with delightfully silly drawings and answers to some of life’s truly important questions such as “Can Sneezing Pop Your Eyeballs Out”(I never thought of this one) or “Are Silent Farts More Deadly”(I’ve often wondered about the SBD phenomenon). The chapter titles made me laugh, but then the authors go on to outline in very down-to earth terms the scientific explanation behind the answers.

Bravo to Mr. Brown and Mr. Moffit. This is a perfect example of how using humor makes learning so much more enjoyable.

Answering burning questions right to the point

This book explores the type of questions that usually only a kid would ask, and digs deep into giving an in depth answer that that same kid would understand. It's good for the curious, regardless of whether they are science illiterate or hold one or many PhD's in STEM fields. Granted, many things are oversimplified, but given the circumstances and the general atmosphere in which this book is meant to be read, I believe the guys at Asap Science made a great product here.

Unrelated to the book itself: I got myself the Kindle version and yet it wasn't compatible with my eReader device (Kindle Paperwhite), so beware if you are getting the soft copy.

Consider age and social context of perspective reader.

We purchased this book for our niece. We did note that some of the subject matter might be questioned for certain ages (e.g. orgasms, dancing getting you laid, and morning wood). I found no recommended age information, nor was I aware of this subject matter when I preordered (it's very likely I didn't research thoroughly, as I am a fan).

I will note that these are all natural aspects of life, and nothing objectively negative for a younger child to be exposed to. The terminology used in that presentation might be questioned (some may prefer formal terminology over informal), and the potential social ramifications of having a child educated in such matters could, sadly, be an issue, however. My wife and I are fine with it, but our niece's parents and grandparents have different opinions than we do on some things. Just something to think about.

Just the tests

Sadly, this publication by ETS contains nothing but 3 old GRE physics exams of (presumably) retired questions. The correct answers and the scoring statistics are given, but there is nothing in the way of explanation or discussion or strategies for attacking the test. Still, you should probably get this because its the only place you can get your hands on ETS's actual problems. Other books that purport to train you for the GRE often disturbingly misunderstand what kind of things ETS expects you to know and do on the exam. This book is only helpful if you invest a lot of time in it, but I still reccommend it highly if you plan on taking the physics GRE.

A book you want to see before the test.

This book neither tells you how to solve the problems nor what knowledge you are expected to have before the test. This book contains only problems and answers. When you think you are ready for the test, this is the book you want to use. This book contains four actual tests and helps you time your exam and get used to the style of the exam. I found "Physics: The Easy Way by Robert L. Lehrman" a good book to review the kind of things asked in GRE physics test. In GRE physics test you are asked a hundred small questions which can be solved almost without calculation. You want to review the essentials and get used to the style of the exam for high score.

About the Author
Nicole Centeno is a French Culinary Institute-trained chef and the founder and CEO of Splendid Spoon. She has worked for several major publications including Wired magazine, The New Yorker, and Saveur. In college, she studied diet therapies as treatment for illness and has taught cooking and nutrition courses at Columbia University. Centeno has cooked in esteemed New York City restaurants such as EAT Greenpoint and Fatty Cue. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her two sons.

Delish!

I haven't read the whole introduction yet, but I have made 4 of the soups and they are not only very easy to make with limited prep and very healthy ingredients, but they taste amazing too! Since I only cook for myself right now, I eat very basic meals, and don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so the recipes and the easy of cooking are a huge plus for me. What I made so far, tastes amazing!

The book I've bee looking for!

I love this book. The recipes are easy and tasty, and the process outlined by the author is very doable. It's a great way to get in more plant-based nutrition and to interject some mindfulness into the ritual of eating. This book has been my inspiration for escaping the fast- and processed-food trap and finding my way back to a more balanced relationship with food . . .
