Great resource

If you're interested in the products of one of the most important manufacturers of amateur telescopes, this is a great resource for you!
At first, I was disappointed because there is no download-option for this ebook and shipping to Germany is really expensive, but when I had received the CD-ROM, I understood why: It contains more than 700 MB in form of several high-res PDFs. The font size is rather large, so it amounts to ca. 1800 pages - printing them would be a great task, but when I copy them to my Sony PRS-505 E-Reader, the fonts are large enough to be still readable.
If you want to know how the early Celestrons were assembled, how to maintain and service them and are interested in the background of Celestron, this is the right book for you. You'll get information about almost forgotten telescopes and can read interviews with many people who were important for the history and development of Celestron. The book also covers first line of the current NexStar-telescopes, but it focuses on The Early Years, so you find find much about the changes since ca. 2004 - it ends with the NexStar GPS, so NexStar i, CPC, SE and the current lines are only covered with a few pages as addendum.
The label on the CD-ROM may indicate an older version, but the files on the disk are new and from the second edition, so don't worry - you'll get the files of the newest edition.
It is a fascinating insight into the development of Celestron - not cheap, but well worth the money.

This book contains a lot of information about vintage celestron telescopes: technical data about the SCT design and manufacturing, as well as numerous interviews of the key people who founded and made this company grow. This is really a must have if you are interested by this era of Celestron history.

A remarkable tonic!

There is nowhere else where all this riveting history can be found. I knew some of the people in this book and was told some of this information first hand. It's a long book but if you're recovering from surgery, as I was when I read it, it makes the recuperation go much faster!
