A lover of romance novels since the age of ten (shh, don't tell mom!), Margaret Locke declared as a teen that she'd write romances when she grew up. Once an adult, however, she figured she ought to be doing grown-up things (such as earning that master's degree in medieval history), not penning steamy love stories. Turning forty cured her of that silly notion. Margaret is now happily ensconced back in the clutches of her first love, this time as an author as well as a reader. Margaret lives in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia with her fantastic husband, two fabulous kids, and two fat cats. Another adorable read!

I loved this book even more than the first in the series, A Man of Character. The clash of cultures throws a whole new wrench in the game of love, with the heroine learning to deal with not only the social and emotional restrictions of their society but the physical hardships as well. Locke does a wonderful job of keeping the reader focused on the main prize, while gently showing that while the settings may change, human nature remains the same.

Wonderfully written, sweet romance.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series by Margaret Locke. This book is the second in the series and does not disappoint. As with book one, all the characters are wonderfully written and well-developed, even the secondary and minor characters. I love all of them and feel as if I actually met them and know them.
Margaret Locke's stories are so well-written, realistic, and believable. I can easily picture each scene as it unfolds, and I almost feel as if I'm there in the middle of it. She definitely draws you into the story. Getting ready to start book number three right away. I recommend the whole series to anyone who loves a sweet, romantic tale.
